"I feel like I'm about to have another breakdown, I'm so depressed and stressed and helpless and angry." Gem, 21.
Our members
In the run-up to our AGM in October this year, we welcome new members. If you'd like to become an individual member or you'd like to represent your organisation as a member, please contact us via email or phone on 020 7009 2500.
Being a member enables you to play a bigger part in our future strategic direction. Specifically, you can vote on who becomes a Trustee of Get Connected and you're eligible to stand for election to become a Trustee yourself. (If you'd like more information on the role of a Trustee, have a look at the Structure of the Organisation.)
Organisations wishing to become a member of Get Connected must have an interest in our Objects, as stated in our constitution: to promote the protection of children and young people and safeguard their physical and emotional well-being by the provision of a telephone helpline and other services.
Get Connected has three categories of membership:
Individuals - giving scope for informed and interested people to support the organisation, and use their skills in an appropriate way, as well as giving former volunteers an opportunity to share their knowledge and experience within the organisation.
Helpline Workers - ensuring that the organisation is run partly by those who are the most involved and therefore most in touch with the young people who contact the helpline, and the day-to-day functioning of the service.
Organisations - this enables us to ensure that Get Connected remains a relevant and unique service for young people, and that we can draw on the skills and experience of organisations that we signpost to and those who work with young people.
There is currently no charge for Individual Membership (although all voluntary donations are, of course, welcome).
Current members of Get Connected
Get Connected has 143 members, including Individual Members, Helpline Worker Members and Organisational Members. As you can see from the list of Organisational Members, we try to make links with people who share our commitment to helping young people, and whose learning we can benefit from. Hopefully we can also tell them a useful thing or two.

Further information about membership of Get Connected
By agreeing to become a member of Get Connected, you will become a member of the company limited by guarantee [3979905]. This means that you have the right to attend the Annual General Meeting and vote on key issues relating to the governance of Get Connected, including electing our Board of Trustees, and any amendments to our Memorandum and Articles of Association, which are our governing documents and can be found on our Charity website.
If Get Connected were to become insolvent and the company's assets were insufficient to cover the cost of our liabilities, members would be liable to pay our creditors a sum of money to the maximum value of £1 (one pound) in total. The Trustees maintain a register of the risks that Get Connected is exposed to, including any financial risks; it is their responsibility to ensure that Get Connected effectively manages and minimises any financial risks and does not become insolvent.
If at any time you wish to terminate your membership, please get in touch by email or in writing to Get Connected, PO BOX 51719.
Please do not hesitate to contact our Company Secretary and Chief Executive, Emma Insley, should you have any questions about membership.
